The McTeggart Irish Dancers, founded in Cork, Ireland, in 1939, and Kentucky in 1995, is central Kentucky’s premier certified school of Irish dance, offering classes for children and adults in Irish dance, sean nós (old-style) and set dancing. We also offer classes in Irish frame drum, the bodhrán.
Our PROGRAMS
Irish dance
Irish dance is our flagship program; we offer classes for beginners through champions, children (ages 4+) and adults. Classes are taught by certified and assistant instructors, and focus on proper and safe technique, musicality and style, and nurturing a love for dance.
Sean Nós & Set Dancing
Our sean nós & set dancing classes are for teens and adults, beginners through experienced dancers. Sean nós is an older style of traditional solo Irish dance, characterized by low-to-the-ground percussive movements, a deep connection to the music, and a playful, improvisational style. Set dancing is a tradition of Irish square dancing, performed with lively battering and stepping.
